Titanas Mavrostifo is a rare and distinctive sweet red wine crafted from the indigenous Mavrostifo grape, a variety that has been largely forgotten and revived through careful viticulture. The grapes undergo an extended drying process, first under the sun and then in shade, which concentrates sugars, aromas, and phenolic compounds before fermentation begins.

This results in a highly concentrated must that ferments slowly and is later aged for several years in oak barrels, developing additional depth and complexity. In the glass, the wine shows an intense, almost opaque color with ruby and amber nuances, reflecting both its richness and aging.

The aromatic profile is layered and expressive, with notes of dried fig, plum, sour cherry, and raisin, complemented by hints of chocolate, sweet spices, and tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, yet balanced by firm tannins and vibrant acidity that prevent excessive heaviness.

The finish is long and persistent, marked by cocoa, dried fruit, and spice. This wine is best suited for pairing with dark chocolate desserts, blue cheeses, or rich, savory dishes with sweet elements, where its intensity and structure can fully stand out.

Skouras is one of the leading forces in modern Greek winemaking, located in the Nemea region of the Peloponnese, an area closely associated with the Agiorgitiko grape. Founded in 1986 by winemaker George Skouras, who trained in Dijon, the winery combines international expertise with a strong focus on Greek terroir.

Its vineyards are spread across multiple zones, including Nemea, Mantinia, and Argolida, at varying altitudes that allow for both ripeness and freshness in the grapes. Domaine Skouras works extensively with indigenous varieties such as Agiorgitiko and Moschofilero, while also incorporating international grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Viognier.

The winemaking approach emphasizes precision, with controlled fermentation and careful oak aging used to enhance structure and complexity. The wines are known for their balance between fruit expression, acidity, and refined tannins, often showing both immediate appeal and aging potential.

Over time, the winery has played a significant role in elevating the reputation of Greek wines internationally, particularly through its consistent and terroir-driven interpretation of Agiorgitiko.
