Suntory is a Japanese beverage company founded by Shinjiro Torii in Osaka in 1899. It began as a family-owned shop called Torii Shoten that specialized in imported wines. Over the following decades, the company expanded its operations to include a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Today, it operates as a global group led by Suntory Holdings, with its head office in Osaka and its world headquarters in Tokyo. Its internationally recognized brands include Suntory Tennensui, Boss Coffee, Iyemon, Orangina, Lucozade, Ribena, and Oasis. A particularly important part of its portfolio is Suntory Tennensui natural mineral water, which was introduced in 1991. The water is drawn from underground sources in the mountainous regions of the Minami Alps, Kita Alps, Okudaisen, and Aso in Japan. Each variety reflects the different geological characteristics and mineral composition of its source area. The company operates dedicated bottling facilities near the water sources and implements programs to protect the surrounding forests and groundwater systems. The Suntory Group currently operates across Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Oceania and employs more than 40,000 people. Its business combines its Japanese heritage with the development of products adapted to different regional markets.
