Tasca d'Almerita

Ghiaia Nera Etna Rosso

4.1 ·

Ghiaia Nera Etna Rosso is a red wine from Tasca d’Almerita’s Tascante estate, made from Nerello Mascalese grown on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, in the Passopisciaro area, on volcanic soils rich in lava and minerals. The vineyards are located at high altitudes, which allows for slow ripening and helps preserve freshness and aromatic precision.

Vinification is carried out with a focus on expressing varietal and terroir character, followed by ageing mainly in large wooden vessels to avoid excessive oak influence. In the glass, the wine shows a light ruby color typical of the Etna Rosso style, with aromas of red berries, dried herbs, floral notes, and a distinct mineral character reminiscent of volcanic stone.

On the palate it is refined and vibrant, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and a balanced, linear structure. Ghiaia Nera offers an authentic interpretation of Etna’s northern slopes, emphasizing elegance, tension, and terroir expression rather than power or extraction.
