Pošip Sur Lie is a white wine produced by the Tasovac winery on the island of Korčula in southern Dalmatia, Croatia, made from the indigenous Pošip grape variety. The wine is crafted using the sur lie technique, where it ages on fine yeast lees after fermentation, a process that enhances complexity, texture, and overall depth.
This method gives the wine a fuller body and a more layered aromatic profile while maintaining the natural freshness typical of the variety. Aromatically, the wine often shows notes of ripe stone fruits such as peach and apricot, accompanied by hints of citrus and subtle mineral tones.
Aging on the lees can also introduce delicate nuances of spice and a light creamy character. On the palate, the wine is usually medium to full-bodied with balanced acidity and a long, structured finish.
Compared to lighter styles of Pošip, this interpretation emphasizes richness and complexity while still reflecting the Mediterranean character of Korčula’s vineyards. Pošip Sur Lie pairs well with seafood dishes, grilled fish, shellfish, and other Mediterranean cuisine.
