1821 by Tenuta Patruno Perniola is a Primitivo di Gioia del Colle DOC Riserva made exclusively from hand-harvested Primitivo grown at around 400 meters above sea level on the red, limestone-rich soils of the Murgia plateau. The wine shows a deep ruby color with darker reflections, indicating both concentration and aging potential.

On the nose, it reveals layered aromas of ripe red and black fruits, accompanied by subtle spice notes and hints of Mediterranean scrub. The palate is full-bodied and structured, with firm yet polished tannins that provide depth without overwhelming the fruit core.

Extended maturation - first in stainless steel, followed by aging in French oak and further bottle refinement - contributes to its complexity and integration. Despite its warmth, typical of southern Italian Primitivo, the altitude of the vineyards helps preserve freshness and balance.

The finish is persistent, with a combination of fruit intensity and gentle oak nuances. With an alcohol level around 15%, it pairs well with roasted red meats, game dishes, and aged cheeses, reflecting a traditional yet carefully controlled expression of Primitivo from Gioia del Colle.
