Confiture de Figue from Terre de l’Atlas is an artisanal fig jam produced by the Coopérative Bogmaz in the Aït Bougmez area of the High Atlas Mountains. It is made from fully ripe local figs, using a simple recipe that includes sugar and a small amount of lemon juice, without artificial preservatives or flavorings.
Production is carried out in small batches, with slow cooking that preserves the natural texture and depth of the fruit. The sensory profile is defined by warm, honeyed fig notes balanced by a gentle citrus freshness.
The texture is dense but not heavy, with a clearly recognizable fruit character rather than an industrial uniformity. This jam pairs naturally with fresh and semi-hard cheeses, yogurt, toast, or as an ingredient in simple desserts.
Its strength lies not in complex flavor additions, but in the faithful expression of local fruit and traditional processing methods. Confiture de Figue thus stands as an authentic example of how a product can convey the terroir of the High Atlas through straightforward ingredients and respectful craftsmanship.
