Caplar is a dry red wine produced by Tomić Winery on the island of Hvar in southern Dalmatia, Croatia. The wine is a blend of Plavac Mali, the most important indigenous red grape of the region, and Cabernet Sauvignon, combining local character with an international varietal style.

The Plavac Mali grapes typically come from the sun-exposed southern slopes of Hvar, while Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in vineyards on the northern side of the island. The two varieties are vinified separately before being blended and aged for several months in oak barrique barrels, a process that adds complexity and structure to the wine.

Aromatically, Caplar often shows notes of ripe plum, dried fruit, and earthy tones characteristic of Plavac Mali, complemented by hints of blackcurrant, spice, and herbal nuances from Cabernet Sauvignon. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with balanced acidity and smooth tannins that contribute to a long finish.

This combination of varieties creates a wine that balances Mediterranean warmth with a more structured style. Caplar pairs well with grilled red meats, game dishes, and rich Mediterranean cuisine.
