Trumer Privatbrauerei is an independent family-owned brewery based in Obertrum am See in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Beer has been brewed at this location since 1601. The brewery has belonged to the Sigl family since 1775 and is currently managed by its eighth generation. Its operations are led by Josef Sigl as the family representative and private brewer. Production is primarily focused on pilsner and its contemporary variations. The brewery’s best-known product is Trumer Pils which forms the basis of its identity and international recognition. Its beers are made from barley malt, hops, water from the brewery’s own well, and brewing yeast. Most of the hops are sourced from the Mühlviertel region of Austria while smaller quantities of specialty varieties come from other hop-growing regions. One of the brewery’s defining features is open fermentation during which yeast and foam can be manually removed from the surface of the beer. After fermentation the beer undergoes an extended maturation period that allows its flavor and stability to develop gradually. In addition to its classic pilsner the range includes various hop-focused specialties, organic beers, radlers, and alcohol-free products.
