Turrón 1880 is a Spanish producer of traditional turrón based in Jijona in the province of Alicante, an area historically associated with the production of this type of confectionery. The brand belongs to the family-owned company Almendra y Miel, whose turrón-making tradition dates back to 1725 and is currently continued by the eleventh generation of the Sirvent family. The name 1880 refers to the year in which the family recipe that later became the basis of the brand’s best-known products was created. Production is based on almonds, honey, sugar and egg whites, with the composition adapted to each type of turrón. The brand uses Spanish Marcona almonds and honey sourced from selected Mediterranean areas. The almonds are evenly roasted before being combined with a cooked mixture of honey and sugar. In soft Jijona turrón, the mixture is additionally ground and processed in specially heated vessels until it develops a smooth and paste-like consistency. Hard Alicante turrón retains whole or coarsely chopped almonds bound together by a firm mixture of honey, sugar and egg whites. Although production now takes place in a modern facility, several key stages continue to follow traditional methods developed in Jijona.
