Vegemite is an Australian food brand best known for its thick yeast extract spread, which has become one of the most recognizable products in Australian food culture. The product was developed in 1923 in Melbourne by chemist Cyril Callister while working for the company Fred Walker & Co., who created the spread as a nutritious alternative made from brewer’s yeast.
