Madrecuishe is an artisanal mezcal from Viejo Indecente, produced by the Lucas family in San Isidro Guishe, in the Miahuatlán region of Oaxaca, Mexico. It is made exclusively from Madrecuishe agave.
The agave is steam-cooked in an artisanal oven, preserving its natural character with very little smokiness. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats made from Montezuma wood, followed by double distillation in copper stills. The mezcal has an alcohol content of 48% ABV.
It features pronounced green, herbal, and peppery aromas, with almost imperceptible smokiness. The palate has a creamy texture, with notes of poblano pepper, cilantro, lime, and parsley, followed by a sweet hint of apple-flavored candy. The finish is delicate, fruity, and lightly sweet, with mineral and spicy tones.
