Viñedo Chadwick Red is a prestigious Chilean red wine from the Puente Alto D.O., produced by the family-owned Viñedo Chadwick estate in the Maipo Valley. First released with the 1999 vintage, it was conceived as an authentic expression of Alfonso Chadwick’s former polo field, which was converted into a vineyard in 1992.
The wine is made predominantly from hand-harvested Cabernet Sauvignon, with some vintages containing a small proportion of Petit Verdot. The grapes come from a vineyard at the foot of the Andes, characterized by stony, gravelly alluvial soils rich in calcium carbonate. Precision viticulture, rigorous grape selection, and careful vinification are followed by maturation in French oak barrels. The precise blend, ageing period, and proportion of new oak vary according to the vintage.
It displays a deep color and complex aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, black cherry, and plum, accompanied by notes of graphite, cedar, tobacco, spices, and herbs. Concentrated yet elegant and fresh on the palate, it has finely structured tannins, pronounced minerality, and a long finish. The wine has excellent ageing potential and is best served at approximately 16–18°C (61–64°F), with younger vintages benefiting from decanting. It pairs particularly well with roasted or grilled beef, lamb, game, and mature hard cheeses.

Viñedo Chadwick is a prestigious family-owned wine estate located in Puente Alto in Chile’s Maipo Valley, near Santiago. It was established by Eduardo Chadwick in honor of his father, Alfonso, after the family’s former polo field was converted into a vineyard in 1992. Its inaugural vintage was produced in 1999.
The estate comprises a carefully delimited 15-hectare vineyard planted primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon at an elevation of approximately 636–640 meters. It lies on an ancient alluvial terrace of the Maipo River, where stony, gravelly soils rich in calcium carbonate naturally restrict yields and contribute freshness, minerality, and structure to the grapes. The influence of the Andes, cool morning breezes, and wide temperature variations between day and night allow the fruit to ripen gradually while retaining its natural acidity.
The vineyard is managed using sustainable practices, precision viticulture, rigorous grape selection, and gentle winemaking techniques intended to express the character of each vintage and the Puente Alto terroir. Production is centered on a single eponymous fine red wine, based predominantly on Cabernet Sauvignon and supplemented with a small proportion of Petit Verdot in certain vintages.
Today, Viñedo Chadwick ranks among the leading names in the Chilean wine industry and occupies a prominent position in the international market for collectible and investment-grade wines. The Chadwick family continues to develop the estate through the next generation - Eduardo’s four daughters - with a focus on sustainable vineyard management, enhancing the wine’s elegance, and preserving the family legacy for the future.
