Gold Edition Syrtis Plavac Mali is a premium red wine produced by Volarević from the indigenous Dalmatian grape variety Plavac Mali grown in the Komarna wine region of southern Dalmatia. The grapes come from vineyards located on steep, sun-exposed slopes above the Adriatic Sea, where vines grow in rocky limestone soils typical of the Mediterranean karst landscape.
These demanding conditions limit yields but contribute to concentrated flavors and strong varietal character. After fermentation, the wine matures for an extended period in oak barrels, followed by additional aging in the bottle to achieve greater complexity and balance.
In the glass it shows a deep ruby color with purple reflections. The aromatic profile reveals layers of ripe dark fruit such as blackberry, plum and black cherry, accompanied by notes of Mediterranean herbs, cocoa, vanilla and subtle spices derived from oak aging.
On the palate the wine is full-bodied and structured, with firm yet refined tannins and balanced acidity that support its richness. The finish is long and persistent, often marked by mineral and slightly earthy nuances that reflect the stony terroir of Komarna.
Gold Edition Syrtis represents one of the flagship expressions of Plavac Mali from Volarević, highlighting the intensity and aging potential of this traditional Dalmatian variety.
