Yacochuya is the flagship wine of Bodega Yacochuya, produced in the high-altitude vineyards of Cafayate. It is typically based on Malbec, often complemented by a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from old vines planted at elevations exceeding 2,000 meters above sea level.

The wine undergoes careful vinification with extended maceration and is aged for around 18 months in French oak barrels, contributing to its structure and complexity. Aromatically, it displays intense notes of ripe black fruit such as blackberry, plum, and cassis, layered with hints of spice, tobacco, dark chocolate, and subtle earthy nuances.

On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, with dense concentration, firm yet well-integrated tannins, and a long, persistent finish. Despite its intensity, the wine maintains balance thanks to the natural freshness derived from the extreme altitude.

The style is bold and structured, reflecting both the character of old vines and the influence of its unique terroir. It has strong aging potential, often developing further complexity over a decade or more, and pairs particularly well with lamb, beef, game, and richly flavored dishes.
