Beurre d’Ardenne AOP Doux by Carlsbourg is a Belgian unsalted butter with Protected Designation of Origin status. It is made from cream obtained from the milk of cows raised within the designated area of the Belgian Ardennes. Under the designation rules, the separation of the cream, its processing, and the production of the butter must all take place within the protected geographical area. Beurre d’Ardenne received European Protected Designation of Origin status in 1996. According to the declaration, the product’s only ingredient is cow’s milk butter, with no added salt. It has a mild cream flavor and a firm, uniform texture when chilled. At room temperature, it softens and becomes suitable for spreading, while it melts evenly when heated. Its neutral flavor allows it to be used in both sweet and savory dishes without increasing their saltiness. It can be served as a spread or used in pastries, cakes, sauces, vegetable dishes, and other cooked preparations.
