Casa Barone Conserva di Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio DOP is a traditional tomato preserve made from Pomodorino del Piennolo del Vesuvio DOP, an indigenous tomato variety cultivated on the volcanic slopes of Mount Vesuvius in the Campania region. The tomatoes are harvested by hand during the summer at peak ripeness, then left to naturally mature and gently dehydrate in wooden crates before being processed by hand. The fruits are cut lengthwise into halves and carefully arranged in glass jars according to the traditional Vesuvian preservation method, helping retain their natural flavor, aroma, and firm texture. Thanks to the volcanic soil and the distinctive characteristics of the variety, the tomatoes are known for their pronounced natural sweetness, balanced acidity, and high soluble solids content, resulting in an intense and concentrated tomato flavor. Their rich taste makes this preserve particularly well suited for preparing traditional Neapolitan pasta sauces, pizza, and other Mediterranean dishes that call for a distinctive tomato character.
