A Touriga Vai Nua is a red wine produced by Fitapreta Vinhos in Portugal’s Alentejo region, created by winemaker António Maçanita as an exploration of the pure expression of the Touriga Nacional grape. The name of the wine, which translates roughly as “Touriga goes naked,” reflects the winemaking approach: the wine is produced without oak aging in order to highlight the natural character of the variety and the vineyard.
The grapes come from vineyards around Évora, where granite-influenced soils and a warm climate help develop aromatic intensity and balanced ripeness. Fermentation takes place with careful temperature control to preserve the freshness and primary fruit profile of the wine.
In the glass it shows a deep ruby color and an expressive bouquet dominated by violet, blackberry, and blueberry aromas, accompanied by subtle herbal and spicy notes typical of Touriga Nacional. On the palate the wine is vibrant and well structured, with lively acidity, refined tannins, and a clear fruit-driven profile.
The absence of oak gives the wine a direct, pure style that emphasizes freshness and varietal character. A Touriga Vai Nua pairs well with grilled meats, roasted lamb, and Mediterranean dishes where its aromatic intensity and balanced structure can stand out.
