Jever Pilsener by Friesisches Brauhaus zu Jever is a German pale bottom-fermented beer produced in the town of Jever in Lower Saxony. The name Jever Pilsener has been used since 1934, although the brewery’s history dates back to 1848. It is made from water, barley malt, and hops in accordance with the German Beer Purity Law. Naturally soft water with a very low limestone content is used in its production. This water composition allows the brewery to use a larger quantity of hops without creating a harsh or unbalanced bitterness. The beer reaches 40 bitterness units, giving it a more pronounced hop character than many other German pilsners. It has a pale golden color, clear appearance, and white head. Its aroma combines herbal, grassy, and mildly floral hop notes with subtle hints of grain. The flavor is dry, clean, and distinctly bitter, while the malt provides a light base that balances the hops. The finish is dry, persistent, and accompanied by pronounced bitterness. Its original wort extract is 11.3%, while the beer contains 4.9% alcohol by volume.
