Mil Reis Grande Reserva Syrah is a flagship red wine from Herdade da Maroteira in Portugal’s Alentejo region, produced exclusively from Syrah grapes grown on the estate’s vineyards near the Serra d’Ossa mountains. The vineyards benefit from warm days, cooler nights and clay-limestone soils that allow Syrah to develop both ripeness and structure.

Grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected before fermentation, with a focus on extracting color, aroma and balanced tannins. The wine then undergoes extended maturation in French oak barrels, followed by additional bottle aging to refine its structure and complexity.

In the glass it shows an intense deep ruby color and a concentrated aromatic profile dominated by blackberry, black cherry and plum, complemented by notes of pepper, dark chocolate and toasted oak. On the palate it is full-bodied and powerful, with dense fruit, firm tannins and well-integrated acidity that supports its richness.

The finish is long and persistent, revealing both the warmth of the Alentejo climate and the varietal character of Syrah. Mil Reis Grande Reserva Syrah pairs well with grilled red meats, roasted lamb, game dishes and aged cheeses, and it is also a wine capable of long bottle aging.
