Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Vin from Kapcsándy Family Winery represents the estate’s flagship wine, sourced from the best parcels of the historic State Lane Vineyard in Yountville. Built primarily on Cabernet Sauvignon, often complemented by smaller proportions of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the wine reflects a Bordeaux-inspired structure combined with Napa Valley ripeness.

Vinification is highly selective, with small-lot fermentations and aging in French oak barrels, contributing to both depth and refinement without overshadowing the fruit. Aromatically, it is intense and layered, showing blackcurrant, blackberry, and dark plum, alongside graphite, cedar, spice, and subtle floral notes.

On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, with dense yet finely integrated tannins and a vibrant acidity that maintains balance and precision. The texture is polished and concentrated, offering both power and control.

With time, the wine evolves toward more complex notes of tobacco, leather, and mineral undertones, gaining additional nuance and harmony. The finish is long, persistent, and precise, marked by both fruit intensity and savory complexity.

This wine is built for long-term aging, often developing over decades, and stands as a benchmark expression of estate-grown Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with a strong sense of structure and identity.

Producer

Kapcsándy Family Winery is a boutique, estate-focused producer located in Yountville in the heart of Napa Valley, centered around the historic State Lane Vineyard. Founded in the early 2000s by Lou Kapcsándy, the estate was developed with a clear vision of producing wines inspired by Bordeaux while fully expressing Napa Valley terroir.

The vineyard spans approximately 20 acres and is entirely estate-grown, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, carefully divided into small blocks to enhance precision and site expression. Winemaking emphasizes meticulous selection, small-lot fermentations, and aging in French oak barrels, aiming for structure, balance, and long-term aging potential.

The wines are typically rich and layered, showing dark fruit such as blackcurrant and blackberry, alongside notes of graphite, spice, and subtle floral nuances. On the palate, they are full-bodied and structured, with polished tannins and a refined texture that avoids excessive heaviness.

Despite their concentration, they maintain clarity and balance, reflecting both vineyard discipline and controlled vinification. Production remains limited, reinforcing a focus on quality and detail rather than scale.

Over time, the winery has gained recognition as a “cult” Napa producer, known for wines that combine power, precision, and longevity.
