Theakston Old Peculier is a legendary old ale brewed by the family-owned Theakston Brewery in Masham, North Yorkshire. It was named in tribute to the town’s unique ecclesiastical parish status ("peculier") and has become one of the most renowned and respected British ales.

It features a deep ruby-red color and a complex aroma with notes of cherry, plum, and ripe fruit. The flavor is rich and full-bodied, with layers of caramel, roasted malt, and a hint of dark chocolate bitterness.

With an ABV of 5.6%, it belongs to the stronger end of the ale spectrum while maintaining a smooth and balanced character. The beer is brewed using a carefully selected blend of pale and roasted malts, along with traditional Fuggle hops.

It is fermented with Theakston’s proprietary twin-strain yeast, passed down through generations. Old Peculier has won numerous awards, including Champion Strong Ale of Britain and a silver medal at the Winter Beer of Britain competition.
