Hoof & Lur Moschofilero PGI Arcadia is an alternative expression of Moschofilero created by Troupis Winery as a tribute to the traditional wines of the high plateau of Mantinia. Looking back to the way Moschofilero was made and remembered by previous generations, the wine reinterprets that tradition through a modern, minimal-intervention approach. Its name connects the wine to the mythology of Arcadia: Hoof refers to the hoof of Pan, the satyr of Arcadia, while Lur refers to the flute with which he made his music, bringing together the region’s ancient traditions with a fresh, contemporary spirit.

Made from 100% Moschofilero, Hoof & Lur is fermented entirely with naturally occurring yeasts and undergoes several days of skin contact. The wine is fermented and aged in concrete tanks, with no fining or filtration and only minimal sulphite additions. By allowing the grapes to develop with very little intervention, the process preserves a more direct, authentic and textured expression of the variety.

The result is a distinctive Moschofilero with floral aromas accompanied by notes of powdered sugar and blood orange. On the palate, citrus flavours and fresh acidity bring vibrancy and energy, while the extended skin contact contributes additional depth and character. Hoof & Lur offers a more savoury, natural and expressive interpretation of Moschofilero, reflecting both its ancestral roots and its contemporary potential. Hoof & Lur has been selected twice for The Great Greek Wines, earning recognition among Greece’s leading wines. It has also received notable international attention and references from respected wine critics and publications, including Jancis Robinson and Robert Parker Wine Advocate.

Today, it forms part of Troupis Winery’s portfolio in Greece and international markets, representing the family’s continuing philosophy of looking to tradition for inspiration while exploring new possibilities for Moschofilero.

Troupis Winery is a family-owned boutique winery in Fteri, at the heart of the Mantinia plateau in Greece, where vineyards sit at around 700 meters above sea level. For more than 15 years, the family has been at the forefront of Moschofilero, becoming the first and only winery in the region to explore the variety so extensively and push its potential to the limits.

Rather than being defined by its traditional light and aromatic style, Troupis Winery has shown that Moschofilero can be remarkably versatile, complex and age-worthy. Through pioneering work in the vineyard and cellar, including different clones and rootstocks, micro-vinifications and alternative winemaking vessels, the family has created an unusually broad range of expressions, exploring different colors, textures and styles while preserving the character of the variety and its high-altitude terroir.

Today, Troupis wines are recognized through international awards and critical acclaim including Jancis Robinson, Robert Parker – Wine Advocate, Decanter, The Great Greek Wines, while the winery remains deeply rooted in Fteri, where visitors can meet the family, explore the vineyards and discover the many faces of Moschofilero at its source.
