Tomh Moschofilero Rosé PGI Arcadia

4.4 ·

Tomh Moschofilero Rosé PGI Arcadia is the flagship rosé of Troupis Winery and one of the winery’s pioneering expressions of Moschofilero. Produced in the heart of the Mantinia plateau, it was the first rosé made in Mantinia, created at a time when Moschofilero was traditionally vinified almost exclusively as a white wine. The name Tomh, meaning “innovation” in Greek, reflects the philosophy behind the wine: taking an indigenous variety and exploring its potential in a new way.

Made from 100% Moschofilero, the grapes are selected at their aromatic peak, cooled before crushing and then left in contact with their skins for 24 hours. After racking, the clear must is fermented using yeast strains selected from the family’s own vineyards. This combination of traditional and modern winemaking techniques is designed to extract and preserve the full aromatic and flavour potential of Moschofilero while creating a distinctive rosé expression.

Tomh Rosé displays an expressive aromatic profile of quince, dried apricots and red apples, followed by crisp acidity and a refreshing citrus-peel finish. Its balance of fruit, freshness and aromatic complexity makes it particularly versatile at the table. It pairs well with pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces, braised fish and sweet-and-sour dishes, including Chinese cuisine. Best served chilled at 12°C.

As a flagship wine of Troupis Winery, Tomh Rosé represents the family’s pioneering approach to Moschofilero and its commitment to demonstrating the variety’s versatility beyond its traditional style. The wine remains an important part of the winery’s portfolio in Greece and international markets, continuing the family's vision of introducing new expressions of Moschofilero while remaining rooted in the terroir of Mantinia.

Troupis Winery is a family-owned boutique winery in Fteri, at the heart of the Mantinia plateau in Greece, where vineyards sit at around 700 meters above sea level. For more than 15 years, the family has been at the forefront of Moschofilero, becoming the first and only winery in the region to explore the variety so extensively and push its potential to the limits.

Rather than being defined by its traditional light and aromatic style, Troupis Winery has shown that Moschofilero can be remarkably versatile, complex and age-worthy. Through pioneering work in the vineyard and cellar, including different clones and rootstocks, micro-vinifications and alternative winemaking vessels, the family has created an unusually broad range of expressions, exploring different colors, textures and styles while preserving the character of the variety and its high-altitude terroir.

Today, Troupis wines are recognized through international awards and critical acclaim including Jancis Robinson, Robert Parker – Wine Advocate, Decanter, The Great Greek Wines, while the winery remains deeply rooted in Fteri, where visitors can meet the family, explore the vineyards and discover the many faces of Moschofilero at its source.
